A Blast From The Past VI: Udo
Sequel to: First Love And An Iron Ore Mine
I was at Anja's kiosk when I met Udo. He lived about 30 miles away, and he was the boyfriend of a (female) fellow guide and he joined her at the weekends at the mine. We talked and we liked each other. On a birthday party we talked for the whole evening and we became friends.
One day he had troubles with his parents and so he asked me if he could stay for the night at my place. That was the moment when I confessed to him that I am gay.
After that he called me very often, we spoke a lot on the phone and we had great fun together. One night (we were on a walk in the forest) he became nervous and shy. He told me that he thinks he's gay too. Andre was my gay idol--I was Udo's.
I had many supportive friends, and I knew many nice gay people, but I didn't have a gay best friend. You know, the one you can talk about everything. Udo broke up with his girlfriend, we became best friends. We hang out in the evenings, often together with Anja, we went to all the gay clubs in Stuttgart together, the big city about 50 miles away from our home. He also loved roller coaster--we rode them a lot. We found many gay friends in our age so we spent much time in Stuttgart with our friends. We hung around every day.
When I moved to Stuttgart, he moved somewhere else and we're not in touch anymore. He was a true friend. I know it's never going to be like it was those days, but I wish we could meet again.
To be continued ...
